Feel the Fear, Do it Anyway

I always wanted to skydive, but building up the courage to do it was another story.

Several of my friends had skydived. All of them encouraged me to feel the fear and do it anyway.

Last year, I decided I would no longer allow fear to stand in my way. This would be the year of checking skydiving off my bucket list.

I booked the appointment, told my kids I was going, and drove to the location alone. You know, just in case I decided to back out no one would know.

I was scared. I was VERY afraid. The ride up in the helicopter felt like forever.  Before I knew it, it was time to jump.  I did everything possible to keep myself inside of the plane. My instructor refused to let me stay inside. Before I knew it, he had pushed me out. I was flying with my eyes shut and screaming.  Afterr a few seconds my instructor encouraged me to open my eyes.  The view was so amazing.  I was flying. All I  remember saying is I DID IT! I DID IT! I could not believe I finally did it. After years of dreaming about it, thinking about it, and having it on my bucket list. I felt the fear and did it anyway.

I looked around and admired the beauty of God’s creation. It was wonderful! After landing I’ll never forget God whispering to me …… if you can find the courage to go up in a plane strapped to a man that you do not know and trust that he will get you safely back to land, why is it so hard for you to trust me?

After all, I created the man you were strapped to  and the land that took your breath away. I gave someone the vision to build the helicopter you rode in and the idea to create skydiving adventures.  I did all of that.  Am I not greater, stronger, and mightier than your adventure today? How can you feel the feel the fear and skydive but the fear of moving forward keeps you bound?  God was right.

I allowed fear to prevent me from moving forward in the things of God. I wanted to, but then I would get in my head and remain stuck.  I would tell myself all of the reasons why I couldn’t do it, shouldn’t do it, instead of feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

Skydiving may not your thing,   I wonder if  there are places in your life where you have allowed your fears to keep you from moving forward.  Have you trusted God like you should?  We are so blessed to have a God that loves us, restores, and redeems us even when we don’t get it right.  Today he’s waiting  to meet you right where you are.  He’s waiting on you. Give Him your fears while he fills you with the faith and strength needed to move forward in what he’s asking you to do.  Sista friend, it is time.

You might feel the fear of what God is asking you to do, but do it anyway. Trust him!

Check out my skydiving video ….. have you jumped out of a plane before?
